I just bought a VHS to DVD converter (VIDBOX 8.0 DELUXE) and would like to know if I can use my computer for something else or if I have to leave my computer alone while I record from the VHS to the DVD burner.

Better quality can be attained by using the dual recorder/playback machines. Both Samsung and JVC make models that use a 'dubbing" method to copy.  It will require a separate RCA jack video monitor.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

My guess, having NOT used the product, is that the conversion will go OK, even if you use the HP for other activities during the process.

But the only REAL way to know -- is to try it.

And, expect to be really disappointed by the low quality of the results.  We've become accustomed to seeing High Def as the routine resolution on everything these days, only going back to SD when we look at Legacy channels.

But, the results of VHS-to-DVD conversion are astoundingly POOR!

I started doing this a while back, to preserve old VHS tapes, and I was so shocked by the poor quality of the video, that I quit doing it.

Good Luck
