I want step-by-step instructions (for a non-expert) for how to stop my receiving (sometimes each half-hour or less) the desktop-screen display "Software & Drivers" message "We are sorry! Software & Drivers can only be run by one user at a time. Please switch ... and close the program."

I had both this computer and an HP laser printer for at least two years (and the same two users on the computer) before that message ever appeared. I do not know what might been installed to trigger the message. Tell me what to do.

Thank you.

Do you have more than one account on your computer?

Is more than one account logged-on at the same time?

It could be that the same software is active on both accounts, and the software detects that conflict.

Logoff from the other account, so that the software will be running only on your account.

Let me re-ask the question. I would like to get and use a process to stop these messages.

So far, I think all that I have learned is that it would be best if each user carefully signs out after each use of the computer.

But, we (the two users) went for years without seeing this message. We have not changed our practices or (as far as I know) our system. But now we see the message regularly. HP's website suggests that HP abandoned the relevant software "product" years ago.

Something has changed. I cannot evaluate the risk of letting that software continue to run.

Please. Tell me (that I need the software or) how to safely stop it from running.

It seems the problem is because of software change
I do not have the memory, of all that was said, done, what exactly works ..
But the easiest solution is to turn off the automatic update system.
If the search is disabled, no more reason for the message to appear
And as I indicated, the updates, are not done every day, if you want peace of mind, in the meantime a new version may be less boring, uninstall hp support assistant, and check directly from time to time. on the hp site, if there is anything new

what is the exact model of the computer?

To find it follow this
for a desktop computer

HP Desktop PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? | HP® Customer Support

and for a laptop:

HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Product Name or Number? | HP® Customer Support
Give the full version of windows
for windows 10 type winver in the search box
