Every time I print something, a task scheduler item is added. If I forget to disable this item, it wakes up my computer. I can barely afford to pay electricity, so I don't want this task scheduler item to keep waking my computer up.
It took me a long time before I finally figured out how to see what was waking my computer up constantly, so I'm pretty upset - especially when I wake up in the morning, and see my computer was on all night again.

Your first solution was reasonable. I tried your first solution, but the task scheduler wake up timer does not allow modification of the task, and even if the task is deleted, the task is recreated by your software.
Your second solution is applied exclusively to the printer itself, by removing ink cartridges, cycling the power of the printer, and then reinserting the ink cartridges. This looks like a copy/paste set of instructions that can not possibly have any effect on my computer being woken up by a scheduled task that the hp software keeps putting into my task scheduler. Nothing done to the printer can possibly alter the task scheduler task that your hp software inserts. Your final suggestion is to simply reinstall the software, which will of course insert the task scheduler timer.
In short, your second response is so incredibly.... it does not deserve a response because I could not possibly say anything good about it.
Neither of your solutions will fix the problem, and they will simply recreate the problem that I fixed by uninstalling your hp software which was programmed to create this problem in the first place.
If you want to fix this problem that I have, get your coders to remove the task created in the task scheduler, and never put a task into my computer which will wake up the computer.
tl;dr: Your suggestions are more likely to create my problem than fix it. You will not get an accepted solution checkmark from me.

Hi @Longheart,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
It sounds like the scheduled task associated with the HP Print Scan Doctor is waking your computer up and causing unnecessary power usage, which is understandably frustrating. The task is likely set to run even when your computer is in a sleep state, and the wake timer is allowing it to wake up the system.
Here’s what you can do to prevent this:
1. Disable the Wake Timer for the Task
- Open Task Scheduler: Press Windows + R, type taskschd.msc, and press Enter to open Task Scheduler.
- Locate the Task: In the Task Scheduler, go to the left pane and navigate to Task Scheduler Library > HP > HP Print Scan Doctor. Look for the task named something like "Printer Health Monitor" or similar.
- Edit the Task:
- Right-click on the task and select Properties.
- In the Properties window, go to the Conditions tab.
- Uncheck the option for Wake the computer to run this task.
- Click OK to save the changes.
2. Disable or Modify the Task
If you don't need the task to run at all, you can disable it entirely:
- In the Task Scheduler, right-click on the HP Print Scan Doctor task and select Disable.
- Alternatively, if you need the task but only want it to run while the computer is awake, you can set a specific time for the task to run when you're using the computer.
3. Check Your Power Settings
- Ensure your power settings are optimized for low power consumption. Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep, and set your display and sleep settings accordingly.
- You can also go to Control Panel > Power Options and configure advanced settings, ensuring sleep timers and wake timers are appropriately set for minimal disruption.

Thank you for your reply. I ran into the following problems with it:
1) The option to disable the wake up is greyed out. This task has been configured to prevent me from disabling the wake up.
2) I disabled the entire task, but the HP smart app enables the task, and resets the wake up time every time the HP smart app is run.
3) I looked at all my computer's sleep and power settings, Windows 11 is not allowing me to customize the power mode, so I'm unable to prevent wake timers from waking my computer.
I found a solution though - uninstall the hp smart app, delete the task scheduler items, and try to never use the hp smart app again. This will probably work. Perhaps in the future, someone can code the hp smart app to not wake up the computer to run some printer task - especially since the printer is off if I'm not using it.

Hi @Longheart,
I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much but i do appreciate your efforts in performing the troubleshooting steps.
Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.
A) Perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day

I uninstalled the hp smart app, and deleted all scheduled tasks after this conversation.
Today, I decided to look at why my computer was on when I was quite certain I turned it off.
```
powercfg -lastwake
Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 1
Wake Source [0]
Type: Presume Wake Timer
Owner: [SERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Windows\System32\svchost.exe (SystemEventsBroker)
Owner Supplied Reason: Windows will execute 'NT TASK\HP\HP Print Scan Doctor\Printer Health Monitor' scheduled task that requested waking the computer.
```
Somehow, this scheduled task was recreated, without the hp smart app being installed. I had noticed the computer on after I woke up a few times, but I figured I was forgetting to turn it off. I have confirmed the hp smart app isn't installed. The only thing I can see installed is the hp driver itself for my computer. Is the driver creating this scheduled task?
