@JY053075,

The basic premise is that you come to the forum to ask for help, mentioning your  EXACT computer model. That way, we "volunteers" can look up the specification, formulate a reply, and give you a proper answer.  When I have to guess what you meant, it really creates an impasse.  I might give you a stupid reply, and you'd get no help.

Your really being vague. Hope you have 2 drives.

@JY053075

To further inhibit our abilities to help you, with OEM PCs, like yours, the "C" drive is usually the OS drive, and the "D" drive is usually the Recovery Drive -- and if this is the case with yours, you do NOT want to move anything to "D".

However, here are some things you can do to recover some of the disk space:

With some space freed up, you should then run Disk Management and provide us the details so we know the configuration of your "drives".

Sorry for my lack of computer knowledge. So on my sons PC there is a Windows (C:) drive, a Data (D:) drive and a Recovery (E:) drive.

The C drive is full at 120GB and the D drive is empty and has 900GB free space. I'm trying to be able to use the free space on the D drive so my son can download more video games. Should we be using the D drive to store bigger data files, like video games?

I just don't know what the differences are between the C and D drive?

Thank you

To answer your question -- YES -- you want to use the "D" drive to store stuff.

Unfortunately, you can't MOVE stuff that has been already installed from "C" to "D"; instead, you have to uninstall it and reinstall it, and not everything will allow you to select the "D" drive.

Also, you should go into your Browser settings and change your default DOWNLOAD location to "D";  That will save future stuff to the "D" drive automatically.

The "C" drive is your OS drive and if it becomes completely full, the PC will stop working.

@JY053075,

Here is how to move existing files, and re-assign those folders.
