Hi @yukonjohn_,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble getting your Android phone to show up in Device Manager on your HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2000a, especially after trying to update the driver. I know how frustrating that can be, especially when you're just trying to get ADB or file transfer working.
Let’s walk through some steps to help restore the phone with the Pc.
1. Check USB Connection Mode on Your Phone
- Unlock your phone and connect it via USB.
- Swipe down the notification shade.
- Tap the USB options notification.
- Select File Transfer (MTP) or PTP (not "Charge only").
2. Enable Developer Options + USB Debugging
- On your phone, go to Settings > About phone.
- Tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer Options.
- Go to Settings > System > Developer options.
- Enable USB Debugging.
3. Install Official OEM USB Drivers
- Download the correct USB driver for your phone brand:
- Samsung USB Drivers
- Google Pixel USB Drivers
- Motorola
- OnePlus
- Install the driver, then reconnect your phone.
4. Use Android SDK Platform Tools (for ADB)
If you're trying to use ADB:
- Download the latest Android SDK Platform Tools.
- Extract the folder.
- Open a Command Prompt in that folder and run: adb devices
- If your device is listed, you're good to go.
5. Manually Add Legacy Hardware (if needed)
If the phone still doesn’t show up:
- Open Device Manager.
- Click Action > Add legacy hardware.
- Choose to install the hardware that I manually select.
- Select Show All Devices > Have Disk.
- Browse to the folder where your USB driver is located.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
