@PeterQ

Welcome to HP forums, I see that touchscreen is not working on your computer.

  • When did this issue start?
  • Did you run any updates on the computer recently?

Meanwhile,

Run component test from F2 for touchscreen and see if it gets detected.

Refer this HP document for the steps to run the test:- Click here

Then update BIOS, Chipset, and graphics card driver and check if it gets detected.

Use this link to download the drivers:- Click here

Let me know if that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

@PeterQ

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

Did you check if it works on the BIOS screen to identify if it's either a hardware or a software issue?

If not, I have a few steps that should resolve your concern:

Attempt to run a test using the HP hardware diagnostic tool,

If the Touchscreen isn't appearing on the diagnostics,

I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

If it works on bios, it's a software issue: please update the BIOS & Chip-set drivers from the HP website, if the issue persists, reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue.

Well, the computer itself, checked and updated bios..

i downloaded Intel Serial IO Driver

Now the hid compliant driver shows in device manager human interface

but HIDDEN DEVICES AND IT IS NOT DARKENED..

IN PROPERTIES GENERAL IT SAYS

Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

i HAVE DISCONNECTED THE MONITOR FROM POWER BUT NO FIX

@PeterQ, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned after installing the drivers you are getting code 45 error on your PC.

Try the steps recommended below.

Open up the Device Manager
Find “Human Interface Devices”
Expand “Human Interface Devices”
Right-click on “HD-compliant touch screen.”
Click “Enable" (if available)
Restart your Notebook PC.

If this does not seem to change anything, please use the System Restore feature and pick a date that was before the issues started.

To use System Restore in Windows 10:

Go to the Search
Type Control Panel
Click Control Panel
Click System
Click System Protection
Click System Protection Tab
Click System Restore
Click Next
Choose "Choose a different Restore point"
Click Next
A box that says "Restore your computer to the state it was in before the selected event" will pop up
Choose the event
Click Next
Click Finish
Click Yes to Confirm
When the System Restore is finished, you will get a pop up that says it has been completed.

Lastly, If the system restore does not work try performing a reset on your PC.

Hope this helps!

@PeterQ, Thanks for your prompt response again.

I appriciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

As we have exhausted with all the steps try performing a complete reset on your PC and check if it helps.

Refer this article to know more information about performing a system reset. Click Here

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, it is a hardware issue with your PC.

I will share out few details through a private message about the service options.

As per the other post I made just couple of days ago: I might be barking the wrong tree but is this not a sign that touchscreen (as in, touchscreen itself only) has simply died and is no longer recognised by OS?

If that happens regularly on devices that are just out of warranty, then it's a shame...
