12 days after my Hp warrantee ended, Hp sent updates on 12-18-2019, I came back from the bathroom and these updates erased all short cuts from desktop, erased all shortcuts from task browser, and changed desktop file from e to d, (D) is my dvd rom.. Now I can't load anything onto desktop or the task browser... Every time I try to make a new file or load any thing to the desktop I get a message " please insert a disc into the dvd rw drive (D)" my hp support assistant doesn't work any more, now that the warranty done, also lost all my email bookmarks hundreds of them.. This is the worst Christmas ever, I bought this computer last year at this time, its barley a year old... Please tell me how to undo what the Hp's 7 updates did.. How to undo them and get my system back... Thanks for your help in advance.. Tbone

Hello, do you know what is this updates??
You can check if you have a restore point to restore your PC to a previous state:

there were no restore points , So I hit the recovery setting, and saved my files, but the problems are still there... Cant load any shortcuts to desktop or task browser... Found all my files, but cant load shortcuts and my desktop is somehow connected to my dvd (D)…

Maybe useless, do you know if you have install this updates on HP Support Assistant or Windows Update??
If HP Support Assistant, please see on this util what updates you have installed, and if you can to restore your previous drivers.
If Windows Update you can see this for uninstall:

If it doesn't works, you can enter "cmd" in your Windows search bar, and right clic in "command prompt" for execute in administrator. Enter this command and tell me result:
sfc /scannow
