I purchased a hp m01-f0033w from Facebook marketplace the hard drive was wiped and after installing windows and doing all the update computer is crazy slow, when I click on anything it takes 30 seconds to a minute to respond and when uninstalling something takes 5-10 minutes. My first guess is the drivers but when I go on hp site to search driver it only gives me options for windows 10 but I have windows 11. So what do I do now? I downloaded driver booster program and installed all the drivers it came up with but it's still really slow, best buy still sells this PC, HP already dropping support for it?

I understand how frustrating it must be to get a PC like the HP M01-F0033w up and running, only to find it unbearably slow, even after a fresh Windows installation and updates. The HP M01-F0033w has officially reached the end of driver support, and HP only provides Windows 10 drivers for this system. However, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck. Here's what that means and what you can do next:

STEP 1: Download the Correct Drivers from the HP Site

Even though HP lists Windows 10 drivers, most are compatible with Windows 11, especially the chipset, graphics, audio, and LAN drivers.

STEP 2: Check Storage Type (HDD vs SSD)

Your PC originally came with a 1TB 7200RPM HDD, which is now considered too slow for modern Windows, especially Windows 11.

🔍 To check:

  1. Open Task ManagerPerformance tab → Click on Disk
  2. If it's labeled "HDD" and shows 100% active time for long periods, that's your bottleneck

🛠 Recommended Fix:

Upgrade to an SSD (either SATA or M.2 if supported — M01 supports both depending on variant).

Even a budget SATA SSD like a Crucial MX500 or WD Blue will transform performance instantly.


STEP 3: Update BIOS (If Needed)

An outdated BIOS can lead to poor power management, memory issues, etc.

Check the BIOS version by typing in msinfo32 (System Information). Then compare to what’s available on HP's driver page.

If your BIOS is outdated, update it via HP's BIOS Update Utility.
