Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Victus Laptop's keyboard driver is missing or corrupt and has been disabled. How and where can I obtain and re-install it? I am currently using an external USB keyboard temporarily but would like to have my laptop's keyboard fixed.

Hi @EveCal_0624,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Are you seeing any error messages in Device Manager related to the keyboard driver?
  • Which version of Windows are you currently running (Windows 10 or Windows 11)?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Device Manager
    • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Keyboards and see if your internal keyboard is listed. If it shows a yellow warning icon, right-click and choose Update driver.
  2. Run Windows Update
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes Windows automatically reinstalls missing drivers.
  3. Download Drivers from HP Support
    • Visit the official https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers  and enter your laptop’s model (HP Victus).
    • Navigate to the Drivers & Software section, select your Windows version, and download the latest keyboard or chipset drivers.
  4. Use HP Support Assistant
    • If installed, open HP Support Assistant and run a scan. It can automatically detect missing or outdated drivers and reinstall them.
  5. Perform a Hard Reset
  • Shut down your laptop, disconnect the power adapter, and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect and restart to see if the keyboard is detected again.

I hope this helps.
