How do I name a file before I scan it on my HP Office Jet Pro 8720 and puts it into a file?

You cannot name the file before the content is scanned.

With the exception of using HP Smart > Shortcuts to manage the file destination,

You can scan the content and then name / rename the file and it's destination before the file is saved, printed, or shared.

General Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan - Preset = Document
