A DVD fell off the drive into the computer.  How do I remove the DVD?  (It's a DVD for an HP Printer MFP127fw)

@LongHairedSfFan,

There are 2 different methods. Both require you unplug the power cord. There is a tiny hole on the facing of the drive cover.  Thin paperclip is inserted in the eject hole and the drive door unlocks. You pull tray out.

1) lay unit on side, and unlock door, shake the dvd onto the tray as you pull it out.

2) Use Service manual, remove drive, open with eject button. Shake it out.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Was able to use the first suggestion to remove the dvd in question. 

 

How do i avoid this happening in the future?

There are tabs that engage the disc, it will "click" when snapped into place.
