There is a hotkey for switching between inputs with KVM on the keyboard. It is double tap ctrl. I read in this thread that the problem was not resolved by HP: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/OMEN-27k-Disable-or-change-KVM-keyboar...

When can we expect a firmware update that this is either patched out or a option is added to turn this of?

Hi @Zomers,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We're here to help you tackle that hardware failure/malfunction! Don't worry, we've got your back!

I can see how frustrating that must be—having a powerful monitor like the HP Omen 32 OLED and then running into a hard‑coded shortcut that interferes with everyday keyboard use feels like the opposite of convenience.

However I would request you to please confirm that KVM switch feature is available in OSD menu or no and also to help you further, I would request you to please share me the Serial Number and product number in order assist you further.

Please be informed there is no dedicated time for the BIOS FIRMWARE update however, I would request you to please keep an eye with below link to check for the update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

Thank you for your reply @Pallipurath.

The KVM Switch feature you mentioned is not available in the menu of the display. I do have options for Auto-Switch and Omen Gear Switch.

I have not received an invite for a private message.

Hi @Zomers

Pallipurath is away for now; however, I'm Hawks_Eye, and I'll be happy to help you out!

I understand how inconvenient it feels to have a hard‑coded keyboard shortcut interfering with your normal use, especially on a premium display like the Omen 32 OLED. You’ve already checked the on‑screen display and confirmed that the KVM switch option isn’t exposed there, which rules out any immediate adjustment from the monitor’s menu.

At present, the double‑tap Ctrl shortcut for input switching is built into the firmware and cannot be disabled or remapped by the user. There isn’t a published timeline for when or if a firmware update will add the ability to turn this off or customize it. The only way to know when new firmware becomes available is to monitor the official driver and firmware page for your model:

HP Omen 32 OLED Drivers & Software

Practical steps you can take now

  • Check for firmware updates regularly: New releases will appear on the driver page above.
  • Use Omen Gear Switch or Auto‑Switch: These are the only configurable input options currently available in the OSD.
  • Keyboard software workarounds: If your keyboard has its own driver software, you may be able to intercept or remap double‑tap Ctrl at the keyboard level, though this depends on the keyboard brand and software.

I know this isn’t the flexible solution you were hoping for, but the firmware design currently enforces that shortcut. Keeping an eye on the driver page is the best way to catch any future update that might expand input control options.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
