Per HP specs (Link) you have a Pentium G630 now.

 

You can do a i7-2600 (Link) which was a very good consumer CPU when released.

 

Yes, a SATA SSD will enhance your PC's performance. 

 

I have used this SSD adapter (Link) with very good results in many PCs.
