That motherboard has the H81 chipset. It supports PCIe Gen2
While I do not have that exact board, I do have an H81 motherboard and I am running a Gen-3 RTX-2080Ti
According to TechPowerUp the 2080Ti requires a 600 watt power and a lot of cooling. I have a 750 watt and a lot of fans.
Go here
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-2080-ti.c3305
scroll the performance windows up and down till you find a GPU in your budget and that also fits the power supply you have.
Possibly an RTX-4060 might work as it needs only a 300 watt power supply but it does need an unusual 12pin connector.
HP makes on with 8 pins instead of 12 but the cost is unreal even for a used one
