I have an issue with my touchscreen...AGAIN!!! I alread had HP repair this before and now I am having the same issue.  When I reboot the computer, the cursor jumps all over the place so I can't really use the computer.  I am having to go into the device manager everytime it reboots to disable the touch screen.  It is getting harder and harder to do this as time goes on.  Once I disable it I can use my computer just fine.  Does anyone know of a way to PERMANENTLY disable the touch screen?  I have tried from the device manager and it gets re-enabled after rebooting.  Any help on how to fix this would be much appreciated...Thanks.

Hi @Kellyga74,

If there was a registry fix, I would have definitely researched and let you know about it. Please try these steps for webcams to check if the touchscreen gets disabled. It might do the trick for you.

Hi @Kellyga74,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing issues with the keyboard or mouse wherein the cursor jumps to a different location.

This issue could occur if the BIOS or Touchpad drivers are not updated.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: HP All-in-One PCs - Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues (Windows 😎.

If the issue persists, then you may restore the system to a previous point by checking the link: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 10, 😎

If the issue still persists, then you may perform a system recovery after backing up your files from the links below:

  1. Backing Up Your Files (Windows 10, 😎
  2. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 10)

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

I have tried all these potential solutions and nothing works. What I really want at this point is a way to disable the touch screen drivers PERMANENTLY. Thanks.

Hi @Kellyga74,

I  reviewed the post comprehensively. Brilliant effort and great troubleshooting to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for that. it is greatly appreciated. 🙂 As @Rainbow23 is out of office for the day, I am taking over from here. You will need to disable the touchscreen only from device manager always. Thre is no other permanent way of disabling the touchscreen drivers.

  • Right-click start>left-click on device manager from the list
  • Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
  • Click the touch screen driver,
  • Right-click, and select Disable from the list.
  • Click Yes on the dialog box that asks if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.

At a  restart, the computer's touchscreen normally gets enabled again as this driver is a native Mircorosft driver built into Windows 10 and hence it always gets installed as the operating system always finds the hardware for all components that come with the computer. That is how the operating system is designed.

However, if the computer has been repaired recently within a 90-day window, then you still should be able to send the computer in for repair to HP to get it fixed as you are entitled to a 90-day hardware warranty from the day the computer gets delivered to you after repair.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

Kellyga74,

Did you get your touch screen drive deleted PERMANENTLY?  I have the same issue at a smme unit.    Which specific  instruction did you take to get that done.

I will never buy HP w/touch screen again.   There was so much trouble and I thought I was being hacked.

Thanks.

I am having the same problem. My HP All in One Envy is about 1 year out of warranty. A few months ago several white circles started appearing on my screen. It also makes it difficult if not impossible to use the mouse because it jumps all around the screen.  I tried everything including a full reset. I finally figured out I could disable the touch screen and the problem went away. I used the computer for several months with several updates and reboots and the touch screen stayed disabled.

I DID NOT have to reset the Device Manager every time I rebooted!!

So last week after I upgraded to Windows Pro the touch screen now turns on after every reboot. Problem is this time it is almost impossible to open the Device Manager because of no control over the mouse. AND THEN today, before I could type in my password the screen would go crazy and with no control over the mouse it took about 30 min just to type password and then still had to open Device Manager after computer started. There must be a way to disable this permantly so we can turn off this defective Touch Screen monitor.

Thanks

David
