For the last couple of days whenever the desktop goes into sleep mode, I cannot login again. Either the sceen remains dark or sometimes it flashes gray lines but nothing else.
I have rebootred itr several times but the problem still returns. I have also made the power settinggs to "never" sleep or turn the screen off, but that doesn't seem to work.

I had the same issue with my all-in one. I noticed it started happening right after Windows updated the display driver. I was able to solve it, at least temporarily, by rolling back the Intel display adapter driver. To accomplish this, do the following:
1. Type "Device Manager" into the search bar in the lower left corner of the Windows home screen and press "Enter"
2. Select the ">" next to "Display adapters" in the Device Manager window
3. Right click on "Intel(R) HD Graphics 530" and choose "Properties" from the bottom of the menu.
4. Select the "Driver" tab on the top of the properties window.
5. Click on "Roll Back Driver" button.
6. Select a reason in the next window and click on "Yes".
Unless they address this issue, it will probably happen again the next time Windows updates. I hope this helps someone. Good luck.

I just tried something yesterday that is a partial solution but may be an issue with Windows 10.
I logged in as the administrator and chnged the power settings to "Never" on everything. The screen never goes blank and I can log into the PC when I want. However, this is not a long term solution. I am now thinking there is something going on with the turning off the screen and awaking.

Just checked the monitor driver and discovered that some new driver services were added when the problem started occurring.
The graphics is Intel HD Graphics 530.
The services added are:
lgfx, cphs, cplspcon and lgfxCUIService
it also states that device kx124994inf was installed.
Maybe someone at HP could help with this.

I now have disabled "Sleep" mode but allowed the screen to turn off. This appears to be working as I can login after the screen turns off. My assumption now is that the Windoze 10 computer sleep function is defective!
