HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0043ax
Microsoft Windows 11

My Laptop started with a flickering screen on the display, the next day the laptop has the black screen, I can hear the laptop boot up but there's just no display showing up. I've gone through many youtube tutorials which seemed no use.

Hi @Revanth4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 is experiencing a hardware issue, likely with the display or graphics card. Since the screen flickered before going completely black, it's possible that there could be a loose connection, a display panel issue, or a problem with the GPU.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger and remove any connected devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect the charger and try turning the laptop on again.

Check External Display:

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV via HDMI or DisplayPort.
  • If the external display works, the issue might be with the laptop’s internal display.
  • If nothing shows on the external display, it might indicate a problem with the GPU.

Try a BIOS Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Power it back on and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly to access the BIOS.
  • If the screen remains black, this could further confirm a hardware issue.
  • If the BIOS shows, you can restore the BIOS to default settings and exit to see if the display issue is resolved.

Check for Loose Cables:

If you feel comfortable, you can disassemble the laptop (carefully) and check for loose display cables. The ribbon cable connecting the display to the motherboard might be loose or damaged.

Boot in Safe Mode:

  • If the laptop seems to boot but there's no display, try to start Windows in Safe Mode by pressing F8 or Shift + F8 during boot (though F8 can be tricky on newer machines).
  • If successful, this may help if a software-related issue is causing the black screen (e.g., display drivers).

Graphics Driver Issues:

  • If the display works in Safe Mode or an external monitor, you might need to reinstall or update your graphics drivers.
  • Use Device Manager to uninstall the current display adapter and restart the laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the drivers.

Reseat the RAM:

  • Power off the laptop, disconnect from power, and remove the battery if possible.
  • Open the bottom cover and reseat the RAM sticks (remove them, then reinsert firmly).
  • Power the laptop back on to check if the display works.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
