Hi @BeetleGenie,
Thanks for sharing the details, appreciate it.
The issue you're describing with your HP 27xq 144Hz Quad HD gaming monitor, where the screen is dimmed on the left and right sides but brighter in the middle, could be due to several factors. Here are some potential causes and solutions:
1. Backlight Bleeding or Panel Issue
- Cause: This could be due to uneven backlighting or a defect in the LCD panel.
- Solution: Check if the issue is present in all applications and screens, including the monitor’s built-in menu. If it is, it might be a hardware issue, and the monitor may need to be serviced or replaced.
2. Display Settings or Calibration
- Cause: Incorrect display settings or calibration can sometimes cause uneven brightness.
- Solution: Try resetting the monitor to its factory settings. You can usually do this through the monitor’s on-screen menu. Also, check if the issue persists when using different display modes (e.g., gaming mode, standard mode).
3. Cable or Connection Issues
- Cause: A loose or faulty connection could cause display issues.
- Solution: Ensure that the cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) is securely connected. Try using a different cable or port if available to rule out connection issues.
4. Graphics Card or Driver Issue
- Cause: Problems with your graphics card or its drivers could cause display anomalies.
- Solution: Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version. If the issue persists, try connecting the monitor to a different computer to see if the problem is with the monitor or the graphics card.
5. Power Supply or Voltage Issues
- Cause: Insufficient power supply or voltage fluctuations could lead to uneven brightness.
- Solution: Ensure that the monitor is connected to a stable power source. Try plugging the monitor into a different outlet or using a different power cable.
If the issue persists and seems to be hardware-related, contact HP support or the retailer where you purchased the monitor for warranty repair or replacement.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
