Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I am trying to connect an external monitor to my HP ENVY Curved All-in-one - 34-b080nl.

At boot, I see the HP logo on both the displays (internal and external) but after that, the external gets black (but it appears as still connected to the desktop; the monitor keeps showing nothing instead of the message "check cable", "no signal" or so.)

I tried several monitors and several cables (even an 8K compatible). Always the same story.

I tried to change the resolution but nothing.

Everything is updated.

There is just one more thing: when I pless the button placed in the rear of the desktop to activate the "hdmi in", clearly the answer is "check the signal" or so; when I press that button again, the message to the top of the internal display is "MODE: PC" HDMI: Inactive". Is it right? If not... what should I do to change that inactive into active?

Thanks.

Hi SandyTechy20,

I already followed the instructions as described in the link suggested by you.

Unfortunately, after the HP logo has been displayed correctly on the external monitor (this is the reason why I think that it should be a software fault, not a hardware one), the monitor gets black.

The only odd thing is that my NVIDIA Control Panel (528.02) has no menus/options to set multiple display configurations. My graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M.

Follow these steps to fix the issue:-

Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

  • HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Updates in the My notebook pane
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Updates list in HP Support Center
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

  • Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

Dear,

I followed your instructions. No errors and every pieces of software (BIOS, drivers, etc.) appears as updated. External screen, after the initial HP logo displayed, keeps getting black.

Was this problem every resolved? I am having the same issue on a HP Envy All-in-One 27". When I start the computer, the external monitor shows HP logo and then goes black after fully started. I've gone as far as resetting my PC and removing all files. I still have the issue.
