HI @Manohar19,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue where the laptop powers on but the display remains blank. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Power off the laptop: Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop shuts down completely.
- Disconnect all peripherals: Unplug any external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.).
- Remove the battery (if removable): If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
- Hold the power button: Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power: Put the battery back in (if applicable) and reconnect the power adapter.
- Turn on the laptop: Press the power button and see if the screen turns on.
2. Check for External Display Issues
- Connect to an External Monitor: Use an external monitor or TV to check if the laptop's internal screen is the issue. If the external monitor displays correctly, the issue may be with the laptop's screen or its connections.
3. Test RAM and Other Hardware Components
- Reseat RAM Modules: If you're comfortable opening the laptop, remove and reinsert the RAM modules to ensure they are properly seated.
- Check for Beep Codes: Some laptops emit beep codes if there is a hardware problem. Refer to your laptop’s manual or HP’s support website for information on beep codes.
4. Inspect Connections and Components
- Check Internal Connections: If you're comfortable doing so, open the laptop and check the connections between the motherboard and the display. Ensure all cables are securely connected.
- Check for Loose Components: Ensure that no internal components, such as the hard drive or SSD, are loose.
5. Boot into BIOS or UEFI
- Enter BIOS/UEFI: Power on the laptop and repeatedly press Esc, F2, or F10 (depending on your laptop model) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings. If you can access BIOS, it might indicate that the issue is with the operating system or drivers.
6. Run Built-in Diagnostics
- HP Hardware Diagnostics: If you can access the BIOS, look for a diagnostic tool option. Run hardware diagnostics to check for issues with components such as the RAM, hard drive, or motherboard.
7. Check for BIOS Updates
- Update BIOS: If you can access BIOS or UEFI, check if there is an option to update the BIOS. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve display issues.
8. Try a System Restore or Recovery
- Access Recovery Options: If you can access BIOS or the recovery environment, you might be able to perform a system restore or recovery to revert the system to a previous working state.
9. Perform a Blind Boot
- Attempt Safe Mode: If you suspect that the issue might be software-related, try performing a blind boot into Safe Mode. Restart the laptop and press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly to enter Safe Mode. If the system boots into Safe Mode, the issue might be related to drivers or software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
