HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 (4U8D7AV)

I’ve got a touchscreen laptop and while I was using it screen started glitching out and lines started to appear in the screen. When I called support they told me the internal damage of the screen isn’t covered in the warranty and only the hardrive is covered. It wasn’t my fault but they still won’t cover it under the warranty eventhough I paid extra for the warranty. Absolute shamble of a service

Basic Troubleshooting:

  • Restart the Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve screen glitches.
  • Check for updates: Ensure your laptop is running the latest version of Windows and HP firmware. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on Check for updates.

Perform a System Diagnostic Test:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant application, go to Diagnostics & Tools, and then select Run hardware diagnostics.
  • UEFI Diagnostics: Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Run the System Tests > Graphics Tests to check for screen issues. (Please check if the issue persists in this window, If it does, then it may be a hardware issue.)

Driver Update and Reinstallation:

  • Open the Device Manager by right clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
  • Expand the Display Adapters and Monitors categories.
  • Right-click the drivers under those categories and select Update driver.
  • If the issue persists, try uninstalling the drivers and restarting the laptop to let Windows reinstall them automatically.

Physical Check:

  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Look for any visible cracks or damage on the touchscreen surface.
