HP ENVY Curved All-in-One - 34-b110

This question was previously asked and not answered on 08-05-2022 12:20 PM so I'll just quote from that post. The only difference for me is that I have the 34" model:

The Pavilion All-in-One 27 has a built in web cam that you slide up from the rear of the screen. This switches the camera on. Conversely when pushed back down it switches off the camera.

It has worked well for 2 years, then suddenly I started receiving the 'we can't find your camera' when it was slid into the 'on' position. Went through all the usual driver reinstalling procedures and even had the HP Helpdesk take remote control to check everything was how it should be. We noticed that under 'devices manager' the camera wasn't visible when the camera was in the up/on position, but suddenly appeared when turned off. The camera app confirmed that the camera was on/live when physically pushed into the down/closed position.

It would seem that somehow the on/off switch within the pc has reversed itself. It is not a software problem. Has any other user experienced this or would know (if I remove the back panel and the camera housing), what switch or cable connection I am looking for to see if there is a physical rectification possible? Thanks.

There's another post from  ‎10-13-2022 09:38 AM  that actually got a response from Rainbow23, but, unfortunately, the document referenced in the reply...

Please follow the steps from this document.

...gets a 404/Not found.

With device manager open, I can watch the HP IR Camera appear when I hide the camera and then disappear when I pop it up to use it. Needless to say this is extremely frustrating and annoying.

Any updated advice?

I started playing with the camera pushing it down and popping it up, hoping to 'trick' the switch. That didn't work so I pressed it down, when I could see the "HP IR Camera" show up in device manager and then powered down, hoping that this would keep that status.
After rebooting, I toggled the physical camera switch a few more times until, I am not making this up, I got a blue screen of death!
