I’ve purchased DisplayPort to USB cables and a universal docking station, but it doesn’t work with my laptop (HP 15-ef2126wm). I also purchased DisplayPort to HDMI cables to use with dock, and those don’t work either. Apparently I need a different docking station and/or cables to be able to set up and use dual monitors. Which cables and docking station will work so I can use two monitors? Thanks!

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07918009
It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
For more connectivity, please use
True Universal Docking Stations
Regards.

Thank you, that helps a lot. I should’ve added that the monitors both only have DisplayPort, DVI and VGA ports as well as several USB ports. The monitors do not have HDMI ports. Should cables be DisplayPort to HDMI? Or do I need DisplayPort to HDMI adaptors and link to a universal dock? Thank you!
