Hi @Pearl1961,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear about the challenges you’re facing with the HP Digital Webcam driver installation. I understand how inconvenient this can be, especially when you're eager to get everything working smoothly. Let’s work together to address this issue.
- Have you tried using the driver disk on another computer to see if the installation completes successfully?
- Are you running the installation on the operating system the webcam is designed for (e.g., Windows 10 or 11)?
- Have you encountered any error messages during the installation process, or does it simply stop at 70%?
Let's try these steps.
Run the Installer as Administrator:
- Insert the driver disk.
- Locate the installation file on the disk, right-click it, and select "Run as Administrator". This may resolve permission-related issues preventing the full installation.
Download the Driver from HP's Website:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your Pavilion Desktop PC model (TP01-3000i).
- Look for the driver under the "Software and Drivers" section specific to your operating system.
Install in Compatibility Mode:
- If the driver disk is for an older operating system, locate the installation file on the disk.
- Right-click the file, select "Properties", go to the "Compatibility" tab, and choose the appropriate compatibility mode (e.g., Windows 10 if you're using Windows 11).
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
- Windows may automatically detect the webcam and install a generic driver to make it functional.
Manually Install the Driver:
- Insert the disk and let the partial installation proceed.
- Open Device Manager (press Windows + X, then select Device Manager).
- Locate the webcam under "Imaging Devices" or "Other Devices" (it may have a yellow triangle).
- Right-click the device, select "Update Driver", and choose "Browse my computer for drivers". Navigate to the disk’s files and complete the installation manually.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hello and thanks for the response. I have only one computer w/a drive that I use, windows 11 but for some reason, the driver stopped reading the disk, and the drive doesn't even come up in windows. So that's another problem I need to figure out. Could age be a reason the disk cannot fully load? The computer is new but w/the problems I'm having, I'd rather stay with my old computer, it's slow but at least I don't have these problem.

Hi @Pearl1961,
Yes, you are right.
- Mechanical Parts: Optical disk drives have moving parts that wear out over time.
- Drivers and Compatibility: Older devices might lack support for newer operating systems like Windows 11.
I am afraid, it may not work on the newer PC.
Keep me posted for further assistance

Hello and thanks for the quick response. I used the drive in my HP Pavilion only three times since I got it, so I'm surprised it's not reading. Anyway, I'll bring it to Best Buy and see if they can't figure out the problem.
