I inadvertently pressed the "Auto" button on my HP 24uh monitor and it started "Auto Configuring"... It slightly narrowed the width of the display area and moved it over to the left, leaving behind a black vertical area on the right side of the monitor.
I'm finding the user guide and menu options extremely unhelpful, and I haven't been able to fix this issue.
I tried changing the resolution in Windows, I tried hitting "Factory Recall" in the monitor menu (which I presume to mean "Factory Reset"?). How do I get this black stripe to go away and get my display back to its original, full width?

Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that you see a black strip on the right side of the screen.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last the monitor was working fine?
- Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?
While you respond to that, I recommend you access the menu item on the monitor which allows you to adjust the horizontal width and position of the picture and this should take care of the issue.
If you continue to face the same issue, disconnect the monitor cable from your computer when the monitor is on and they connect it back to the computer and check if it helps.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!
