HP Pavilion 24-xa All-in-One Desktop PC (3NJ58AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased this All in One because it was one of a few that had an inbuilt HDMI-In port.

I use the All in One for my own home business, but there are times when I also need to use the screen to connect a work issued laptop which I must use for a different (part-time) job.

I am fairly sure (unless I'm going mad) that the previous work laptop worked fine. I simply connected it with the HDMI cable to the HDMI-in port on the PC and then everything worked fine - effectively the screen was just an extension of the laptop, and I could easily switch between the laptop and the PC using the switch shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+S+D).

I have recently been given a new laptop from work.  It is the same but a slightly newer version of what I had before - a Lenovo Thinkpad X1.

Now when I connect the laptop to the All in One using the HDMI cable, I can still see the laptop screen and switch between laptop and PC using the shortcut, however once the active port is the HDMI port, I can no longer control it using the All in One Keyboard and Mouse (wireless).

I now have to attach a different keyboard and mouse to the laptop and use that, which kind of defeats the whole "clean" look of everything and is a real hassle when I switch between the laptop and the PC.

Any advice?  I feel like the All in One should be able to control the laptop when it's properly connected?  Am I doing something wrong??   Have asked HP but they aren't much help (or haven't' been so far).

No, you can not use AIO keyboard to control your notebook. Wen connecting your notebook to AIO screen, AIO screen acts as a normal external monitor, you have to control your notebook using keyboard ON or connected to notebook

Hope this makes sense.

Regards.
