I have a 2010 HP Pavilion Elite HPE-150t desktop with the multi-media hub on the front of the machine and a TV capture card in the rear of the machine. It was originally a Win 7 machine but now it's running Win 10.
If this matters, it has the BN539AV Neptune2 HPE Front I/O w/TV Tuner, and the BS010AV TV Tuner, ATSC-NTSC with PVR, remote.
I'm trying to import video from a VCR to the computer with the built in hardware.
I did this once years ago (when it still had Win 7 and it's factory installed software) but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it.
And I fear when I reformatted to upgrade to Win 10, it erased whatever built-in video capture software might have been there.
So, given all that, how do I capture the video output of my VCR in my computer?
Is there a piece of built-in Win 10 software that will allow this? Do I have to download a piece of software? If I have to download, is there any free software for this?
Thanks.

Hello
you should already check if the card is properly installed
It is possible that the device driver does not exist for windows 10
If by chance the card works, you should find a good number of software, not having tested, I can not give you a precise one.
If unfortunately you are unable to get the card to work, you should try installing Windows 7 on another hard drive if possible.

I imagine the card is properly installed.
I special ordered the computer from HP with these specifications and the built the machine at the factory.
Plus, it worked in the past. And I've never tried to take the machine apart or modify it in any way.
It's just that it's been so many years that I've forgot how to operate the function.
And it may be that the software/drivers were removed when I upgraded to Win 10.
Do I need drivers?
Do I need software?
My assumption is yes and I just need someone to tell me what I need and then how to use it.

And if it matters, this is what shows up in the device details:
Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800 (Model 78xxx, Combo ATSC/QAM)
I'm not sure if this part is part of the A/V part in the front of the computer.

yes, that's what I indicated
if you have installed windows 10 the card may not be installed anymore
you need to check it in device manager.
if the driver is installed, software is needed

Hauppauge NTSC & ATSC PCI Express x1 TV tuner card (includes remote control, expansion card with IR ports, external IR receiver and IR emitter cable)
this is not the link I was looking for, but it can also help

So I've been continuously picking at this issue without a solution.
I can't believe no one can figure this out.
This machine is one of HP's multi-media unts.
It has the Hauppauge TV tuner card, it has the 15-and-one productivity center on the top front and the Audio/Visual center front lower left.
There are cables that run from those two centers to the motherboard and tuner card.
I tried several different Hauppauge drivers and none of them have activated my front A/V inputs.
A TON of hidden software must've been deleted when I reformatted.
Like Windows Media Center; that's no longer on there anymore.
I wish they had made it clearer which software did what and what needed to be retained & reloaded after a reformat.
I paid extra for all this hardware and literally no one knows how to make it all work again.
HP won't talk to me without a huge fee.
So disappointed right now.
It's ridiculous!!

Sorry, your computer is old there is no support for windows 10
One of the last driver for the card is from 2012 for windows 7 here
The card manufacturer may not have developed any other drivers since!
try the scan, to see what it offers!

I took a look at pics of the card on Newegg and it showed a pic of the accessories that came with the card. I wondered if I had the accessories they showed.
I went thru my big tub of computer parts and cables and lo & behold, I stumbled on the composite to S-Video adapter.
So I plugged my VCR into the rear inputs, fired up WinTV10, and boom. I can see & hear my old videos.
YES!!
I then hit the record button and it recorded the video (in MPEG2.ts format, if that matters). YES!!!
I wasn't sure where or how to save the videos, so I hit up Hauppauge chat line. He said it automatically saves it to C/users/public/public videos.
I can move the file to another folder or even another drive if I like.
I can change the file format from mpeg2.ts to mpg if I wish (don't know which format is better) and I can change the folder location, too.
He said the mpeg2.ts should pose no problem for YouTube or Facebook uploads.
So it's not quite the solution I was looking for, but it works and I didn't have to spend any money.
