I have a home PC - Pavilion that I'm trying to connect to my work monitor an EliteDisplay E240c.  I had used all the connections that I normally use to operate my work set up but the connections between the two don't work.

The monitor screen message is that Input signal isn't found.

Here is the spec page for the HP Pavilion p6-2335ea Desktop

It indicates there is a graphics card installed.  Is that card or another (please indicate make and model of different card) still in place?  If yes, then the outputs on that card are the ones to be using.

The monitor has HDMI input, I would try that first.  The DVI output can be used with a DVI to VGA adapter.

Here is the manual for that monitor

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06075762.pdf

According to the manual - The monitor will automatically determine which inputs have valid video signals. The inputs can
be selected by pressing the Menu button to access the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu and selecting
Input Control.

Page 18 discusses how to navigate the menu - you can find the menu button on the front bezel.  Four buttons in the middle lower.  Page 6 shows the buttons and indicates the uses of the four buttons.

Next is to consider the source - home PC - Pavilion.  If that PC is providing the source - please indicate the complete model number so better help can be given.  Some models might not have active outputs.  Please indicate what output has been used and the type of cable connecting it to the monitor.

Thank you for the suggestions and link to the manual.   I've tried these to select the video input but still not been successful in getting the pc and monitor linked.

I have a  connection adaptor as my PC has a VGA style connector for the  monitor.   I'm using  a Display Port connector at the monitor to the VGA connector/adaptor that is then connected to the PC.

I also have a 2nd cable from the monitor (audio cable) to the PC that is connected.

PC is a Pavilion P6 series  (p6-2335ea)

Is my PC too old to connect to the newer monitor and do I need to find a second monitor screen/older model??

Thank you for your help.

The information about the PC and the various ports was really useful and helped me identify an HDMI port that I'd previously thought was an USB port.

I've now successfully connected my PC to my work monitor using  just one bunch of cables rather than having a different set to use my work laptop and one to use my home PC.  As a bonus I've   managed to also have audio that I'd not had previously.

Thank you
