Every day when I sign on, a box pops up and says a Display update is available.  I do not click on it because I'm afraid it is a scam. When I scan my computer for updates it does not indicate that I need an update on my HP Display. What should I do?

Enter your model number (e.g., OmniStudio X) and search for display or graphics driver updates.

Hi @pamc3

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are facing display update popup everytime you turn on the device. I would request you to please share me the Device you are referring too and share me the picture you see on the display. which will help me to understand better. Meanwhile I would request you to please follow the below steps.

Update HP Display Drivers

  • Device Manager Right-click the Start button, select Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right-click your driver, and select Update driver.
  • HP Support Assistant: Search for and open HP Support Assistant to check for driver updates automatically.
  • HP Support Website: Go to HP Support, identify your product, and look under the "Driver - Display/Monitor" section.
  • Windows Update: Open Settings > Windows Update to check for the latest system and driver patches

Ensure Successful Installation:

  • When you run the update EXE file, carefully follow the prompts and ensure that the installation completes without any errors.
  • Restart your computer after the installation, as some updates require a reboot to take effect.

Check for Pending Updates:

  • Open Windows Update in your system settings and check if there are any other updates pending. Sometimes system updates can interfere with software installations.

Administrator Permissions:

  • Right-click the update EXE file and choose "Run as administrator" to ensure it has all the necessary permissions to install.

Reinstall HP Display Control:

  • Uninstall the current version of HP Display Control from your system:
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  • Find and select "HP Display Control" and click Uninstall.
  • Re-download the latest version from HP's official site and install it again.

Check Event Viewer:

  • If the issue persists, check the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages or logs related to HP Display Control, as these can provide more insight into what might be going wrong.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
