Was playing on my monitor earlier today, then I shut off my pc (by shutting it down the standard way). And the monitor turns off as usual. As I go to turn my pc on, the monitor turns on as usual. There is no display appearing at all. I disconnected the monitor to see if it would operate by itself (I was clicking the input options and setting buttons to see if the menus would pop up) NOTHING HAPPENED - no menus popped up. The screen remained black and there was nothing I could do. I’ve only had this monitor for literally one year and 3months so it’s out of warranty by 3 months lol and it’s already given up on me. I can’t believe the monitor would just give out after such a short time. Can someone assist?
As stated my pc is not the issue so please do not recommend me anything related to my pc.

Hi @Eli1535,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. I see you need help with the Hp monitor.
Check the power
- To check the power, disconnect the video cable from the monitor and make sure that the monitor power cable is plugged into an AC outlet.
- When you press the power button on the monitor, the power light turns on. If the power light remains off, the monitor is not receiving power or the monitor is defective.
- Check the following items before attempting to service or replace the monitor:
- Make sure that the AC outlet has power and the AC outlet matches the power rating for the monitor.
- Connect the monitor to a different AC outlet.
- Try a different HP power cord.
- If the light is on, the monitor has power, and you can continue to the next step.
Display the default on-screen message
- Use the following steps to display the default on-screen message.
- Connect the video cable to the computer and the monitor, and then turn on the computer.
- Turn on the monitor, and then wait about 10 seconds.
- As the computer starts up, disconnect the video cable.
- NOTE:
- If a message is displayed on the monitor, the display panel is working and the problem is related to the video signal. Continue to the next step.
- If the monitor remains blank, turn off the computer, and then continue to the next step.
Fix a bad video connection
- Use the following steps to test the video connection between the PC and monitor.
- Remove the video cable from both the computer and monitor.
- Check for the physical damage to the HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB Type-C port on the computer. If the port is damaged, use a different port.
- If possible, try a different video connection type. For example, if your monitor has an HDMI port and a DisplayPort, try to use the other port to connect to the computer.
- Connect a different video cable to the computer and monitor. Only use a cable adapter if necessary.
- If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Test the video connection
- When you turn the monitor on, if it is working again, there is no need to continue troubleshooting. If the monitor is still having issues, use the following steps to test your video connection.
- If your monitor is still blank, connect it to another computer using a different cable to determine if the monitor is defective. See Connect the monitor to a different computer.
- If the monitor displays startup screens, but does not show the Windows startup screen, use the following steps to set the computer to a compatible resolution.
- NOTE:
- Find the recommended display resolution for your monitor in the User Manual or in the product specifications for the monitor model. If you are unable to find the recommended display resolution for your monitor model, temporarily use 1024 × 768 for troubleshooting purposes.
- Turn on the computer, and then press the f4 key repeatedly when the first startup screen is displayed.
- After Windows opens, right-click an open area of the desktop, select Display settings, and then select the recommended resolution under Display resolution.
- NOTE:
- If the recommended resolution is not available, download and install updated video driver software for your computer. Updating the video driver software can add more resolution settings.
- The screen blanks out briefly, and then displays the new resolution.
- If you are satisfied with the new display settings, click Keep changes or Yes.
- If Windows returns the screen to the previous resolution or if the screen is blank, try another setting until you find a display configuration that is compatible with the monitor.
- Restart the computer. When Windows starts, the monitor displays a full-screen image with a high-quality resolution. If it does not, continue to the next step.
Connect the monitor to a different computer
- Connect the monitor to another computer that has video using a different cable.
- If the monitor works, the video hardware on the original computer is likely the source of the issue. You can try connecting the original computer to another monitor that works to update its video drivers.
- If the monitor remains blank, repair or replace the monitor.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

The “hp” startup screen doesn’t even display when I turn the monitor on and I’ve tried literally everything you’ve recommended beforehand, I’ve plugged it into every single outlet in the house, I’ve also plugged my PC into a tv and that works so I know it’s not my pc. I’ve tried the turn it off for 10 sec and etc. I’ve tried everything. There’s no display popping up at all. The power “light” is white which indicates that it is on but as previously stated, nothing at all is being displayed on screen - Not even when I press volume or settings buttons. The only thing I haven’t tried is a different HP power cord but how would I be able to acquire one ? There isn’t another in the box (yes I still have the original box). This isn’t about the hdmi this is about the actual monitor itself - how I know - I also plugged in 3 different HDMI cords even though I use a DVI cable for my output. (regardless of the screen not displaying anything at all, I still tried)
I’m really upset because I’ve only had this monitor for 1 year and 3 months and it was $500!!!! (485ish +tax). I would’ve even been okay with it giving out around the two year mark but this barely even made it after a year without breaking- leading me to come to the conclusion that HP monitors as a whole aren’t good monitors. Upon calling customer service I was told that I’d have to trade my monitor and pay 473 to get another one back…. Only $10 away from the price I paid!?!?

Hello, you just repeated what the last associate said word for word. It is very obvious and evident you have not read my issue, and it is even more prominently displayed that you have not paid enough attention into your customer. This is truly the worst display of “assistance” I have ever experienced. If you did pay attention, you’d notice that I said I’ve tried EVERY SINGLE THING the previous hp associate asked me, so why would you reply with the exact “help” list. Another thing - if you read my reply (which would help you further understand the situation) the hp logo doesn’t even show when I turn on my monitor and nothing displays on it at all but the power is on because the power light is white.

The response I received instead of an actual apology. The lack of help disgusts me. When calling I was quoted $475 for a “swap” but how is it a swap if I’m going to be charge more than the monitor is worth?? The monitor is inoperable after 1 year and three months…. It literally didn’t even survive two years and it was $500+tax to begin with. This was all a massive waste of time and I will definitely think again before buying any HP products and will be informing my colleagues and the rest of the internet to do the same. I would’ve never wasted my money if this was going to be the outcome.

This was my response to the associate, I definitely think that if they had said this in the community, more customers would actually be able to see more uncommon problems (uncommon since no one has an answer for my issue) and that technicians would be able to look into their hardware to see what may have caused the problem in order to fix it or prevent the issue going forward. The lack of attention and transparency I’ve been through with this monitor with this company is (for the lack of a truly better word) disgusting and it shows me how the company operates as a whole. Hiding problems with their tech and when it’s not possible to help, “hide it”

Hi,
My wife just had this happen last night. X32 monitor popped and went black. We put the monitor in service December 2022 so it lasted about as long as yours. We have six of these monitors so I am taking this one apart so look for the failure. Good news is that pops generally leave evidence in their wake. I'll wanted to let you know you were not yelling into the ether. I'll post what I find in the next couple of days.

I have a very similar issue. Purchased the same monitor November 2022, a year and 4 months with some change ago. Has anyone helped you in a meaningful way? The warranty period being short is irrelevant when the product lasts... but this has left a nasty taste in my mouth.
