OK now that I have the critical issues solved, I need to tackle the annoyances.
Using a 3 or 4 year old ViewSonic inexpensive LCD.
Before wiping, I uninstalled ATI Catalyst Control Center. I can only assume this is what made it work right, i.e. the resolution and aspect ratio.
After re-installation (including current ViewSonic W7 64bit driver, which performs identically to the native W7 display driver) I cannot achieve any greater than 1400 W, and all of the setting choices are awful - the only one that doesn't look stretched is the old CRT 5x4 setting which chops off the top & bottom, and has dead black bars on the sides. I keep getting a popup for 1900W which I can't achieve. When I tried to reinstall the old ATI CCC I found it was obsolete and would not install.
The video card must be integrated, I can't find a listing for it. Otherwise I'd search for drivers.
Any suggestions?
