Purchased a new Envy 34 with 21:9 screen running Nvidia RTX 3060 for some reason when running any game it only locks in 5K 5120x2160 resolution. you can not change resolutions in any games and your stuck at 5K res. Which does not work very well running games like FALLOUT 76, THE Village, BF 2042 wondering if there is a fix for the video or if someone has one of these machines and runs games with no issues or a work around to be able to change resolutions.
Thx

Hi @0U812-7,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing difficulties changing resolutions in games on your ENVY 34 Desktop, there could be a few different factors at play. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause resolution issues in games. Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your graphics card. You can usually download these drivers from the manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel).
- Check Game Settings: Some games have their own resolution settings that might override the system's default settings. Look for resolution settings within the game's graphics or display options menu and make sure they are set correctly.
- Fullscreen vs. Windowed Mode: Some games might have difficulty changing resolutions when running in fullscreen mode. Try switching to windowed or borderless windowed mode to see if that allows you to change resolutions.
- Check Monitor Settings: Ensure that your monitor is set to its native resolution. If your monitor's resolution is set incorrectly, it could lead to issues when running games.
- Windows Display Settings: In some cases, Windows might not properly communicate with the monitor or graphics card about available resolutions. Go to the Windows Display Settings and try changing the resolution there before launching the game.
- Graphics Control Panel: If you have a dedicated graphics card, it might have its own control panel (e.g., NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings). Check the settings within these panels to ensure that the correct resolution is selected for gaming.
- Check for Third-Party Software: Some third-party software, such as screen recording or streaming tools, can interfere with resolution settings in games. Try disabling or closing such software before launching the game.
- Verify Game Files: If the issue is specific to a single game, verify the integrity of the game files through the game launcher or platform (e.g., Steam, Epic Games Store). Corrupted game files could lead to resolution problems.
- Restart the Game: Sometimes a simple restart of the game can resolve resolution issues, especially if you've made changes to settings while the game was running.
- Monitor Drivers: While it's less common, some monitors have specific drivers that need to be installed to work optimally. Check the manufacturer's website for any available monitor drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
