Since 2 years now my display keeps flikkering and glitching and sometimes goed black. This usually happens randomly or if i have a lot of tabs open or 2 tabs next to each other while using my mouse. I already run the test through my laptop and it says that everything is good. Because im using my laptop now more for my thesis the problem
occurs a lot more.

Hi @Wiaem,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the display flickering and glitching issues can be frustrating, especially when you're working on important tasks like your thesis. Since the built-in diagnostics didn't find any problems, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Update Graphics Drivers:
- Check for Updates via Windows Update:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates to see if there are any updates available for your system, including drivers.
- Update via Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Display adapters section, right-click your graphics card, and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
2. Adjust Power Settings:
- Sometimes, power settings can cause the display to flicker when the system tries to conserve energy.
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
- Choose the High performance plan, which will prevent power-saving measures that could affect the display.
3. Check for Firmware or BIOS Updates:
- Manufacturers release firmware or BIOS updates that may resolve hardware-related issues, including display problems.
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model (HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 13-aw2000) to see if any updates are available.
4. Disable Hardware Acceleration:
- Sometimes, hardware acceleration in browsers or applications can cause flickering.
- In browsers like Chrome or Edge, go to Settings > System and disable Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Restart the browser after making this change.
5. Test in Safe Mode:
- Booting your laptop in Safe Mode can help identify if the issue is caused by third-party software or drivers.
- To boot in Safe Mode:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
- Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
- After your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- After restarting, choose option 4 or press F4 to start in Safe Mode.
6. Perform a Clean Boot:
- A clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help you determine if a background program is causing the flickering.
- To perform a clean boot:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab and check Hide all Microsoft services.
- Click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
- In Task Manager, disable all startup items.
- Restart your computer.
7. Check for External Factors:
- Ensure there is no electromagnetic interference (EMI) from other devices or power sources near your laptop.
- If using an external monitor, check the connection and try a different cable or monitor to rule out a problem with the external display.
8. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- HP provides specific hardware diagnostic tools that might identify issues not detected by standard Windows diagnostics.
- Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Run the display and video tests.
