I have a HP w2207h connected to a Macbook Air 2020 M1 with a hdmi to thunderbolt connection. When I make windows full screen, the sides of the window are off the screen. How do I fix this?

@AB115 , welcome to the Community.
This is a resolution problem most likely due to the fact there are no OS X drivers for the monitor: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-w2207-22-inch-widescreen-lcd-monitor/3696168
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

You are welcome, @AB115!
It appears that your monitor is older and HP no longer provides software and drivers for it, as you could see in the link that I provided. Therefore, the computer is not able to set the resolution correctly. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I don't know of any other way to set the correct resolution.
