Hello.
My iGPU has tearing issues. I know it is not my monitor, since it didn't happen on the other computer with the same monitor. AMD FreeSync is ON. I tried turning it off, but didn't help. I updated drivers, didn't help. I restarted my computer, didn't help. I tried almost everything. My computer is under 1yr old, too. My PC- HP Pavilion TP01-2165z. It happens in multiple 3D applications.
Thanks!

Hi @KidsPavilion,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with screen tearing issues on your HP Pavilion desktop. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Check Refresh Rate and Resolution Settings:
- Ensure that your monitor's refresh rate matches the settings in Windows. Right-click on the desktop, select "Display settings," then scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings." Verify the refresh rate and resolution are set correctly.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Since you've already updated your drivers, it's worth double-checking if there's a newer version available. Visit AMD's official website and download the latest drivers specifically for your integrated graphics unit (iGPU).
Disable AMD FreeSync (if applicable):
- Although you mentioned you tried turning it off without success, sometimes toggling it off and on again after a driver update can resolve issues.
Check for Background Applications:
- Sometimes, background applications can interfere with graphics performance. Try closing unnecessary programs running in the background and see if the tearing persists.
Reset Graphics Settings:
- Open AMD Radeon Settings (or the equivalent software for your iGPU), navigate to the display settings, and reset everything to default. Apply the changes and see if it helps.
Check for BIOS Update:
- Occasionally, BIOS updates include fixes for graphics-related issues. Visit HP's support website, enter your desktop model number, and check if there's a BIOS update available. If there is, follow the instructions carefully to update your BIOS.
Test with Different Applications:
- If the tearing is specific to certain 3D applications, try running different applications or games to see if the issue occurs universally or only with specific software.
Monitor Cable and Connection:
- Ensure that the cable connecting your monitor to the desktop is securely plugged in. Sometimes, loose connections can cause display issues.
Monitor Compatibility:
- Verify if your monitor is fully compatible with FreeSync and your graphics card. Check the HP specifications to ensure they align with each other.
Hardware Diagnostics:
- Run hardware diagnostics on your HP Pavilion desktop. HP usually provides a built-in diagnostics tool accessible during the boot-up process or through HP Support Assistant.

I hope this helps.
