Hi Set up new Microsoft Surface Pro 9 to HP M27fx Monitor using an ANKER HDMI to USB-C adapter.

Now have monitor screen blanking problems and the Adapter cable end at the HMI junction is getting really warm. Same results using either HDMI1 or 2 slots on HP Monitor and/or either USB-C ports on the Surface Pro.

any suggestions/solutions please

This does not sound good.

There are big differences in HDMI cables.  Try another cable.  Use a shorter cable.  Remove any devices such as feedthroughs, right angles or unpowered HDMI switches if between the laptop and the monitor (just guessing here).

Try TV set or another monitor.

I had as similar problem with my old SP4 and Microsoft told me I needed an active HDMI cable as the monitor I was trying to use was getting a weak signal.   An "active cable" can be either a docking station or an HDMI powered switch.

Bring up the device manager and look under monitors.  If an unknown monitor shows up then that adapter is not returning information identifying the M27FW
