Microsoft Windows 11

I've tried to add a second monitor to my desktop but the one open HDMI port I plug the monitor into doesn't seem to be working. The monitor works if I plug it into the HDMI that the original monitor is in, so I know it's not a problem with the monitor. How can I check to see if the port is working? Or could it be that it isn't meant to support the display?

@plc90 -- it is possible that your motherboard has one "integrated" HDMI socket -- adjacent to all the other sockets (USB, sound, Ethernet) -- and you have an "add-in" graphics adapter card, with an HDMI socket that is not close to all those other sockets. Example:

   pasted-image-0-1.png (1021×860) (drivereasy.com)

shows the "add-in" card.

Most motherboards will disable the integrated HDMI socket, when the add-in card, with its various video-output sockets, is detected.

Short answer: remove the add-in graphics adapter card, then purchase & install a graphics adapter card that has TWO HDMI sockets.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try that.
