Hi @wendyol,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the Windows update may have caused compatibility issues with your touchscreen driver, which is not uncommon. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your system is up to date with all Windows updates. Sometimes, subsequent updates can fix previous issues caused by an earlier update.

Roll Back the Driver: If your touchscreen was working before the update and then stopped, you can try rolling back the driver to the previous version:

  • Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Look for the touchscreen device under "Human Interface Devices" or "Mice and other pointing devices." If it's not there, check under "Other devices."
  • Right-click the device, if available, and select "Properties."
  • Go to the "Driver" tab and see if the "Roll Back Driver" option is available. If it is, click it and follow the prompts.

Reinstall the Touchscreen Driver: If you can’t find the touchscreen listed in the Device Manager or the rollback option isn't available, you may need to reinstall the driver:

  • Visit the manufacturer’s website of your laptop or touchscreen device and download the latest touchscreen driver.
  • Install the driver and restart your computer.

Use Windows Troubleshooter:

  • You can also use Windows' built-in troubleshooter to detect and fix hardware issues.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Look for the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter and run it.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Sometimes, hardware components can be disabled from the BIOS/UEFI setup. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key such as F2, Del, or Esc right after turning on your computer).
  • Look for settings related to the touchscreen and ensure it’s enabled.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
