With replacement passive 3D monitors few and far between, I was upset to see that this morning my 2311gt 23-inch monitor would not turn on.
On the back, the green LED lights up when I plug it in -- so the power supply and cable seem fine. However, on the front, the bottom-right power button no longer lights up when pressed, and the screen remains off.
So ... does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? And is there any simple repair for this (even if it means cracking the monitor open, which I'm only slightly afraid to do)?
If not, is HP repair still an option on this 8-year-old monitor if I bring it to a local authorized repair shop (in my case, Microcenter)?
Thanks in advance!

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
- Step 1: Checking power
- Step 2: Displaying a built-in on-screen message
- Step 3: Fixing a bad video connection
- Step 4: Testing the video connection
- Step 5: Connecting the monitor to a different computer. Click here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-value-27-inch-displays/3989902/model/16462325/document/c0129... to complete the troubleshooting steps.
And, also refer to this article: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-value-27-inch-displays/3989902/model/16462325/document/c0006... By the end of the article you will be able to isolate the issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

No, those documents didn't help. As I said, the monitor doesn't turn on; although power is getting into the monitor (the green LED next to the power plug on the back lights up), the on/off switch on the front of the monitor's lower-right corner doesn't work at all. The on/off switch doesn't light up, and the screen remains off (no messages or anything of the sort; the screen is clearly off, not just on and blank).

This sounds like hardware related issue with the HP monitor. Hence, I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
