HP 27xq 27-inch
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have recently purchased a HP 27xq 27-inch Display

The monitor has 1 hdmi port and 1 displayport

The hdmi is plugged into my xbox and i would like to use the displayport to connect to my laptop to save swapping cables constantly

I have looked at buying a switch which converts one hdmi port into 2 but apparently this will affect the display quality from the xbox when gaming

I have already purchased a displayport to hdmi cable, this did not work. I called HP yesterday who sold me an adapter (F3W43AA HP DisplayPort to HDMI 1.4 Adapter) this doesn't work either?

The only port that works is the HDMI port which will soon break with swapping to cable daily

Can anyone help?

Thank you

I do not have that monitor but I found a manual here

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06081133.pdf

The on screen menu has an option to select the input so at a minimum you should be able to select either HDMI or DisplayPort by using the buttons under the bottom right.

Is there an auto mode?  if you turn off the xbox and turn on the laptop the monitor should switch to the powered on unit.

Did you get a cable that worked?  If the cable is not working then the monitor will not switch inputs let alone show a signal.

what laptop you using?  On my Surface Pro 4,  I was advised by Microsoft that the SP4 had to be plugged in and in addition I needed an "active mini-display".   I have several mini-display to hdmi cables that work fine with older Macs but not with my SP4.  Contact the people who made the laptop and see if they have a "blessed" cable.

Hi my friend,

About the input select option I did it but nothing.I also switch it to auto mode .

The cable is working perfectly.....I used it in other monitor and worked.

About the using unit ,it's not laptop but a Desktop computer.....I made mistake about it in my info.

I also took out the Xbox HDMI cable from my monitor and left only the display port from my PC and the monitor says no input signals detected.

I am wondering if the monitor's display port is out of the box broken.

I don't know what else to do 😔
