Hello everyone,

 

at first I would like to say I am sorry if I will sound a bit rude now. I just got my new HP 27xq display, which was kinda expensive. I wanted a good display and this one seemed to be a good choice. After turning it on for the first time, I got a bit disappointed:

 

1) Promo pictures and videos looked like there are green led strips on sides. There are not, there is just one in the center. Ok it's mostly cosmetics, but does HP really need to fool customers like this? Well, pardoned, I won't make any complaints but hell...

 

2) There was HDMI cable inside, so I connected the display via HDMI and voila...there are approx 5mm wide black borders on sides and on top of the screens. Far from "thin frame" construction. But I was like: "Okay, I can fix this somehow". Google said that I should try using display port cable, so I got one and? Nothing. The borders are still there. I use Radeon 570 and I tried using underscan/overscan features aswell but nothing.

I just wanted to ask if there is a fix for this issue or more importantly: if the display actually IS able to use this "black border space" as screen. Otherwise I consider this as a really unfair practice and will question HP directly, because the thing I bought is obviously a different product than the one on the picture.

Edit: After reading specs of this display and comparing display dimensions to active screen dimensions it seems the black border is not an active zone. I am gonna file a complaint, about HP misleading customers by advertising this display with fake photos.

 

For those thinking about buying this product, take this into consideration and do not let HP fool you.

I've this exact issue. And feel very similarly now to the OP. 
Why was the reply a secret??

EDIT:  I think the OP might be correct! Just shady advertising.... it depends where you look as to wether it has a border or not in the pictures.  
I'll still see what you can say.

The answer was: problem has been passed to HP support. They sent me a message later:

 

"Thank you for contacting HP. I would like some additional information so I can research this issue and determine the best way to assist you over social media. Please confirm the following, and fill in any blank fields:

name, surname, birthdate, address, dog's name, cat's name, favorite food, display s/n, description of the problem"

 

Seriously, I wrote enough in here and I don't feel like they need any further info. They know they scam.. Sadly yet another poor soul became a victim of HP unfair practice.

 

As I said, this was the last HP product I ever bought. Last time I ordered Zbook laptop which was kinda expensive, it's fine, except it's display is the worst thing I've ever seen. So yea, no more HP. And I will spread the word anytime I can.
