I purchased an HP 920 Ergonomic Wireless Mouse about 1 year ago and it has just started skipping as I move it around. Sometimes when I move my mouse, it will move the cursor in the direction I'm moving, but then jump back in the opposite direction or jump forward further in the same direction I'm moving the mouse.
I have tried cleaning the sensor, my mousepad, and I've swapped the USB receiver to different ports, all with no change.
I plugged another mouse into the system and it does not experience the same issues.
Any help would be appreciated.

@Samus1, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check for wireless interference
Move any USB 3.0 devices (like external drives or hubs) away from the receiver — they often cause signal noise that interrupts 2.4GHz peripherals.
Plug the USB receiver into a front USB port, or use a short USB extension cable to move it closer to the mouse.
Keep the mouse within 12 inches of the receiver during testing.
Power and battery calibration
Remove the batteries and press and hold the left + right mouse buttons for 10 seconds to fully discharge any static buildup.
Insert fresh, high-quality batteries.
Turn the mouse back on and test movement on a plain, non-glossy surface.
Driver and firmware update
Even though it’s a wireless mouse, Windows still loads a HID driver for it:
Open Device Manager → Mice and other pointing devices.
Right-click any “HID-compliant mouse” entry → Update driver → Search automatically.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
