HP Recommended

Hi,

I have an HP E32k G5 IPS 4K UHD USB Type-C (6N4D6AA) monitor connected to an HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G9 Notebook (6A2B8EA#ABB) via a USB-C cable only.  Everything works as expected, Power Delivery, 4K video, USB ports, LAN, Single Power-On Control button, etc.

The monitor is set to the following options:

DisplayPort Mode is set to DisplayPort 1.4

USB-C Configuration is set to USB-C Video + USB 2.0

The Power Mode is set to Power Saver where USB hub/ports should be disabled during monitor's sleep mode.

Firmware Package Version: 1.20.3.0

HW Revision: L0IT1141

The problem is that the monitor's USB ports stay powered when the monitor is in sleep mode (notebook shut down/sleep/hibernate), regardless of the Power Mode setup - Power Saver/Performance. I checked this with connected cooler pad and/or cell phone. All monitor's USB ports remain powered.

I checked notebook's Windows10 Device Manager for USB controllers setup - Power Management - all hubs and controllers are set to allow the computer to turn off USB device to save power.

I also saw the same issue with the Dell P3221D monitor:

https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/monitors/p3221d-cant-turn-off-usb-power-when-in-stan...

Did I miss setting something or is this the intended behavior?

Thanks,

Aleksandar
