Envy 34 a150
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I just got my HP Envy 34 a150. As soon as I turned it on, I noticed that the colors looked washed out. I.e. it seemed as if everything had a hint of grey, or that the brightness was way too high.

I have turned the brightness down to 50%. I also turned off Black Stretch from the on-screen menu (althought I find I have to do this on every restart). I have also updated display-related drivers via the Help Assistant - specifically, HP My DIsplay OSD, Intel Graphics Driver (v1607), and NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Driver (v1607).

However, none of this has worked. Turning off Black Stretch did help notieably, but not enough. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

@Nick786

You've done a remarkable job performing the steps suggested earlier, great work 🙂

And don't worry, as we should be able to fix this up with a few more steps and I'll be with you until we ensure this issue is fixed.

Perhaps, you could attempt the below steps to resolve your issue:

Control Panel > Display > Calibrate Color: See "Welcome to the Display Color Calibrate".

Go through the Calibrate Color Process and get your correct colors back.

(check with different options until you find your personal favorite/preferred colors).

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hey there! @Nick786, thanks for the response.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned even after updating the drivers the issue still persists.

Have you tried to check in BIOS? Whether you have display issues?

To boot into BIOS turn on your PC keep tapping F10 key and you will boot into BIOS.

If the issue persists in BIOS it is a hardware issue please contact HP support for service options.

I'll watch your reply!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion.

There were no display issues when in the BIOS.

Is there a way I can test whether my monitor is showing colors correctly? What if I'm mistaken - I'm wondering if there's a way to test color calibration.

Thanks.

@Nick786, thanks for the response.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned that the issue does not persist in BIOS.

Please uninstall the NVIDIA graphics driver from your device manager and install the latest graphics driver.

Install the NVIDIA graphics driver using this link.

If the issue still persists, please perform a system recovery on your PC.

Refer this link to know how to perform a system recovery.

Let me know if this works!

Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂

When installing the drivers, the setup wizard said that it could not find compatible hardware. Also, after uninstalling the NVidia drivers and failing to install the linked version, I did a Scan for Hardware Changes in Device Manager, and the original drivers were there / re-installed.
