HP ENVY 24 23.8-inch IPS Monitor with Beats Audio
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There is already an old post with the same problem that was never answered.  I have now knowledge of how but suddenly my monitor is in OSD Lockout mode.  The whole of the Interner, INCLUDING THE AI section OF THIS COMMUNITY, says to locate and hold the Menu Button.  The monitor DOES NOT HAVE a Menu button,  There is exactly one (1) button on the device; ON & OFF.  There is also a wheel that controls the volume of the speakers and touching that wheel brings up the error "OSD LOCKOUT" i have tried the HP Support Assistnt App, the HP Display Center App and sp160047.exe and nothing works.  PLEASE,  someone, anyone,  even an f-off, this thing is drying me nuts!  Thank you in advance.

Hi @EPSharp

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It looks like your monitor has entered the OSD Lockout mode, which restricts access to some settings. Common guidance requires holding the Menu button to disable this lockout, but your model does not have a dedicated Menu button. In this instance, we can follow a different approach:

Steps to Disable OSD Lockout Mode

Locate the Power Button: Given your monitor has only one button, which is the Power button.

Press and Hold: Press and hold the Power button on the monitor for about 10 seconds. This should disable the OSD Lockout function.

If this method does not resolve the issue, it's recommended to check for additional hardware specifics, possibly referring to the user manual to check any unique functionalities specific to the HP ENVY 24 monitor.

More Troubleshooting Tips:

Disconnect and Reconnect: Turn off the monitor, disconnect it from the power source, wait for about 10-15 seconds, then reconnect and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your monitor’s firmware is up-to-date by visiting the HP support website.

Thank you very much for your reply but I had already tried that along with pressing the volume wheel. Neither worked!  However, I discovered (quite by accident) just above the Beats Speaker on the bottom of the monitor, is a black plastic trim strip.  About 3 inches from the right hand edge, just above the silver speaker grill , is a tiny, REALLY TINY, oblong box with 3 lines.  THAT is really the menu button and pressing and holding it  indeed does unlock the ODS Lockout.  Previously, I had disconnected the monitor, held it in my lap and examined every inch of sides, bottom, and back searching for a button and never noticed the tiny box on the front trim.  I feel quite foolish and I thank you for your assistance

You absolutely shouldn’t feel foolish—if anything, kudos to you for your persistence and sharp eye!

That tiny, unassuming button is notoriously easy to miss, and you're definitely not the first to overlook it. I’m really glad you found it and shared the exact location—that kind of discovery could seriously save someone else a lot of head-scratching.

If there’s ever anything else quirky or hard-to-find with your setup, feel free to reach out. You've definitely earned your detective badge on this one! 🕵️‍♂️
