So, I just bought this HP Envy x 360, about a week ago and noticed the insane brightness of the screen, I move the toggle on the brightness, and nothing changes weather I turn it all the way up or off. I went into the display part of setting and there is nothing there to change it either, please help my eyes feel like they are burning out of my sockets, and I can't attend school with the literal sun on my desk. In no way was that supposed to be rude I just have a raging headache now and don't know how to work computers.

Hi @maaaaaw,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the brightness control on your HP Envy x360 isn't working correctly, which is definitely not comfortable for your eyes. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow to get it resolved.

Update Your Display Drivers

The brightness issue could be related to outdated or malfunctioning display drivers.

  • Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Display adapters section.
  • Right-click on your display adapter (usually something like "Intel UHD" or "AMD Radeon") and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

If there are updates available, install them and restart your laptop.

Adjust Power Settings

Sometimes, Windows power settings prevent brightness adjustments.

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep.
  • Click Additional power settings on the right.
  • Select Change plan settings next to your current power plan.
  • Click Change advanced power settings.
  • Scroll down to Display and expand it, then find Enable adaptive brightness.
  • Turn off adaptive brightness for both "On battery" and "Plugged in" modes.

Check the Graphics Control Panel

Many HP Envy x360 models come with integrated Intel or AMD graphics, and you might be able to adjust brightness settings there.

  • For Intel: Right-click on the desktop and select Intel Graphics Settings or Intel Graphics Control Panel. Check for brightness settings there.
  • For AMD: Right-click on the desktop and select AMD Radeon Settings. Check for brightness adjustments.

Windows 11 or Windows 10 Night Light

If you're running Windows 10 or 11, enabling Night Light can reduce the brightness and make the display warmer, easing the strain on your eyes.

  • Go to Settings > System > Display.
  • Toggle Night light to On.

You can also schedule this to turn on automatically at night.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

In some cases, an outdated BIOS or chipset driver can cause brightness controls to malfunction.

  • Go to HP’s official website, enter your laptop model (HP Envy x360), and download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • Install the updates and restart your system.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Make sure your system is up to date, as updates may fix display issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
