Hi all,
Ive been having this issue lately 95% sure i have a faulty GPU however just want to make sure.
I originally had this issue where when playing games my computer would blue screen however realized the HP OMEN software had set the CPU overclock to 49x which clearly was way too high-This fixed the issue by reducing it to 45x as a temp however now when playing graphic intensive games such as cyberpunk the game is freezing then bluescreening (I am unable to see the bluescreen error as it pops of the screen way to quick and also unable to see anything in Event Viewer)
I have tried full reset on the system + different power supply however it did not solve the issue.
Has anyone come across this before or have found a fix? I was just going to put a warranty claim in however i am unable to find how to do it

Hi @HayILocK,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Experiencing blue screens (BSODs) or unexpected restarts while playing games on your HP OMEN 45L desktop can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.
Check for Overheating:
- Ensure that your PC is not overheating. Overheating can cause system instability. Make sure the fans and heatsinks are clean and functioning properly.
- Consider monitoring your system's temperature using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner while gaming. If temperatures are consistently high, it may indicate an overheating issue.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can lead to crashes. Visit the HP website or the manufacturer's website of your graphics card (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD) to download and install the latest drivers.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates include important fixes for system stability.
Disable Overclocking:
- If you have overclocked your CPU or GPU, try returning them to their default settings. Overclocking can lead to instability if not done correctly.
Run Windows Memory Diagnostic:
- Memory issues can also cause BSODs. Use the built-in Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for memory problems. Type "Windows Memory Diagnostic" into the Windows search bar, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for Malware and Viruses:
- Perform a full system scan with a reputable antivirus program to ensure your system is not infected with malware or viruses.
Update BIOS/UEFI:
- Check if there are any BIOS or UEFI updates available for your HP OMEN 45L on the HP website. Sometimes, firmware updates can improve system stability.
Check Event Viewer:
- Open the Windows Event Viewer and look for error messages or warnings that occurred around the time of the crashes. This can provide valuable information about the cause of the issue.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Some software, especially third-party applications, can conflict with games and cause instability. Try running the games in a clean boot environment to see if the issue persists. If it doesn't, gradually re-enable startup programs to identify the conflicting one.
Hardware Check:
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there's a hardware problem. Check the integrity of your RAM, GPU, and storage drives. You can use built-in Windows tools like Windows Memory Diagnostic and CHKDSK to check RAM and storage health, respectively.
Remember to back up important data before making any significant changes to your system. Troubleshooting hardware and software issues can sometimes involve risk, and it's essential to be cautious.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Got the exact same problem. Everything was fine till I updated GPU driver. I bought my pc a month ago, no problems occurred before the update.
I've tried every possible thing that I've found on websites.
(Installing older drivers, Bios updates, unplugging hardware, disabling, turning off stuff, diagnostics.. Just everything)
After testing multiple games, I found out that not every game is causing reboot. Had 6 hour session in AC Valhalla for example. No crashes, nothing. But other games like: Vermintide, Tomb raider or even Warframe (which doesn't stress my components at all), those are causing reboots after few minutes in.
My tempetures don't go above 65° for both CPU/GPU.
I will send it to a service. But thought someone could help

Hi mate! Super bloody annoying found the exact same issue that it would only happen in certain games.
I ended up doing multiple full resets of windows not keeping any system files etc and found upon the second reset it seems to of fixed all the issues with the blue screening playing certain games
