I have a HP USB-C G5 Dock which I use with my HP Elitebook for work. I also have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M70s desktop and I would like to use the G5 dock to share two monitors/keyboard/mouse by simply removing the USB-C connection and swapping into Elitebook/ThinkCentre as required. The ThinkCentre has a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port - while the keyboard and mouse work from the dock on both machines, the two HP P24H G4 monitors (connection: display port) do not work with my ThinkCentre.
- I have tried using HDMI port, there's only one on G5 which worked with Elitebook but not work with ThinkCentre.
- I have tried using both Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS operating systems.
- I have also tried upgrading the firmware (downloaded from https://fwupd.org/lvfs/devices/com.hp.Dock_USBC_G5.ccgx.dmc.firmware & ran fwupdmgr install USBC_DOCK_G5_V1.0.18.0.cab with dock connected & output: Specified firmware is already installed '1.0.18.0')
Can you advise if it is possible to connect my G5 dock with my ThinkCentre M70s with 2 HP P24H G4 monitors please? If not, is there an update to either G5 dock or my ThinkCentre you can suggest to remediate otherwise I'll have to return dock to work and invest in a KVM switch.
Thanks, Michael.
