My USB HP keyboard works perfectly when connected directly to my HP Desktop and HP Spectra laptop, however, when it is not available when it's directly connected to my Omen 32" monitor that has 2 usb ports available. This is frustrating as I do not want to keep reconnecting the keyboard to my laptop and then pc when in use.
please help and I have tried the support doc and tried ESC when logging on to windows and removing the drivers and still no joy.

1. There's nothing broken, it's by design.
I guess this could be of some help:
https://www.isunshare.com/windows-10/change-device-connection-sound-in-windows-10.html
But I really would not recommend disabling it - you will easily forget about it in the future which may lead to unecessary confusion.
2. I also use DisplayPort and all is well. You have to fiddle with display settings, I guess, until you spot the discrepancy?
What GPU is driving this monitor?

Hey there! @walla90, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have issues using the USB keyboard on the monitor.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
As you mentioned you have issues using the USB keyboard on the monitor.
By default, the keyboard will not work when connected to a monitor. Because the monitors do not have built-in drivers to work.
Only when the keyboard is connected to a PC, it will install the built-in drivers or will use the windows update to update the drivers.
If the keyboard is not working on your PC. Try few steps recommended below.
Turn off the computer and then restart it.
Press the Esc key repeatedly to see if a startup menu opens.
If a setup menu does not open, the integrated keyboard hardware is not working. The integrated keyboard in the notebook should be serviced or replaced. To continue using the notebook, connect a USB-wired keyboard to a USB port and restart the computer.
If a setup menu opens, use the arrow keys to navigate the menus. If these keys are working in the startup menu, but then fail when Windows loads, the problems might be related to the keyboard software.
Restart the computer.
In Device Manager, uninstall and reinstall the keyboard software:
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Click View and select Show Hidden Devices.
Click the arrow next to Keyboards, right-click the keyboard device name, then select Uninstall to remove the device from Windows.
Continue removing device names in the Keyboards category until all device names have been uninstalled.
Restart the notebook. Right-click Start (), select Shut down or sign out, then select Restart.
Wait for the computer to restart and open Windows.

Thanks for the details and I have tried the steps provided but my HP USB keyboard connected to the HP Omen 32" monitor which is connected to HP Spectra 360 15 is still not accessible unless I connect it directly to my laptop.
Does my USB ports on the HP Omen 32" have an issue? how can I test? I have tried other devices in them and they are not accessible

@walla90, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
As you mentioned you still have issues after trying out the steps.
Frist, Try updating the monitor drivers and then connect the keyboard to the monitor.
Update the monitor drivers using this link.
Also, try connecting a different keyboard on the monitor and check if it works.

I had realized that 20 minutes after I wrote the post. Anyways thanks, that was the solution indeed.
I have two other problems with this monitor though. Can you help me with them?
1. when I don't use the pc for a bit, the monitor normally shuts off, which is normal. but then when I click a button or move the mouse and the monitor wakes up, it emits the same sound that windows makes when you connect a new peripheral to the system. every time.
2. when it wakes up, it also automatically resizes my opened windows and it closes them to the quarter in the up left of the monitor.
both things are annoying, especially the sound. do you have any idea on how to solve these issues? they showed up right after I plugged in the monitor

1. This is most likely because keyboard gets re-attached and recognised by Windows once you wake this monitor up. Nothing to worry about.
2. It works okay for me, no funny sizes after it wakes up. How do you connect it to your PC, HDMI? DisplayPort? Else?
Sounds like some misconfiguration in Windows - or monitor (unlikely here though).
