When plugging in a laptop using USB Type-C to my new HP Z27 display, a warning appears on the display: ""USB-C: Caution- An unqualified USB-C cable has been detected. Please use a qualified HP USB-C cable supported by this monitor to ensure the best performance." I have successfully used an old USB 3.0 Type-C cable and this certified IOGEAR Gen2 cable with e-marker verification[1]. That is, both cables have worked with my laptops to display on the Z27, although the warning appears for all combinations. My laptops are chromebooks (Pixelbook and Samsung Chromebook Pro) and a macbook (2015).

Is there really a reason for caution or is the message an exaggeration? What is a qualified HP USB-C cable, and how does it differ from other USB-IF certified cables? And can someone provide a link for online purchse in the USA? I see a number of HP cables listed on the USB-IF site[2], but I have not found where any of these cables are sold.

Thanks,

DADZ8000
